About SHHH Skimboards   

Dutch founder Fabian Brands (27) grew up in Burgh-Haamstede, a nice little beachvillage in the region Zeeland near the famous Deltaworks in Holland. From twelve years of age originally streetskater Fabian builted together with his brother Michel wooden skimboards to ride one of the best skimspots of the Netherlands nearby, especially for sandskimming and jump-shuvit-and-slide the little shorebreaks we pitifully have. The Brands Bro's tried their own woodies and buyed softtops on the much bigger French Ocean breaks as well, but that was because of the weight and slowness of the boards a very difficult and dangerous thing to do. And that's where the mad German surfboardshaper Rouven 'Bufo' Brauers comes in. Fabian and Rouven met eachother in july 2004 at a surfclinic from Roxy/Quiksilver in Dutch hotspot Scheveningen, where Fabian as a recognized teacher taked care of the skimboardsection (and the women of course) and where Bufo partly lives. Fabian had for years the thought to start his own skimbrand, Bufo gave him the unique possibility. Bufo founded in the beginning of 2003 the revolutionaire surfbrand Bufo Boards, which immediatly convinced pro's like Mike Young and Robby Page. The special and worldwide protected Bufo 3D Technology he developed won also an ISPO-award for best new product in that same year and an IF design award in 2005. Especially the scene where Bufo jumps hard on his barely breakable and just 2,5 kilo light surfboard (see Bufo.com or quickshot) made a big impression.

Bufo asked Fabian especially because of his big love and efforts for skimboarding to shape his skimboards and SHHH Skimboards was born. The following one and a half year we developed the prototype of the SHHH Skimboard, the European answer on our highly respected American colleagues. The shape is inspired by the unique fishtale models from Bufo Boards and has for easysness (four) sizes which are because of it's special design even a bit smaller then all wellknown skimbrands. And is faster, lighter and stronger. The color Orange of the logo is by the way the color of our homecountry, the waves speak for themselves even as the name SHHH. (For suckers: listen to the sound of a shorebreak or when skimming really fast...).

We worldpremiere our first waveskimboard in April 2006 at the beach of Scheveningen. This 'Blue Tuna' is this summer further to be riding in French as well and we are planning to visit skimheaven US and other fine spots around the world in the near future. We surely want to develope this skimbrand for everybody who love skimboarding as much as we do. We are able to shape the boards because of the Bufo 3D technology in the future in each way you want. More (standard) models will soon follow. But we take it step by step: we are just starting this SHHHit and want to do things as smoothly as possible.
